About Us. Part 1- Stacey

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

I often get questions from our customers concerning our business, how we got started, how long employees have been here, what we do, etc.  So I thought I would do a five or six part blog highlighting our staff.  Not to be vain or anything but I’m gonna start with me.  Why, because I know me best, although my wife also says she has me figured out too.   I started in October of 1995.  Mr. Holland (my jeweler) asked me to come in for a job as a jewelry repairman, appraiser and salesman.  So I left my high paying job of video store clerk to begin my career at Hollands.  I loved what I did from day one.  Each day I was faced with something new to do and I was eager to learn more.  Over the next four years I took classes and seminars all over the country to get my “Master Craftsman” degree.  Next I started the long process to become a gemologist.  It took me almost seven years to get my Graduate Gemologist degree, while getting married (to my best friend) and making babies in the mean time.  Just when I thought I knew it all, the jewelry industry made a huge change.  Hand fabricating custom pieces went high-tech.  CAD jewelry design computer programs came out and opened the door to limit-less choices for custom pieces.   Even though I am in the infant stage of learning this program, I have made lots of special, one-of-a-kind pieces for my clients.  I will soon have some of these posted on my main web site.  That’s pretty much it.  As I have said before I love my job and what I do, there is so much to learn and I am blessed everyday with the people I meet in our store and the friends I have made.  That is the greatest knowlege of all.

Don’t forget dad.

In case you didn’t know, fathers day is this weekend.  I know you think dad loves that checkered tie or new wrench set but there are so may other options for the man in your life.  For the last 40+ years we at Holland’s have carried our own private label watches.  These “Holland” watches are made in the USA in Rhode Island of genuine swiss parts and movements.  We usually have anywhere from 50 to 60 styles in at all times.  These come in all stainless steel, gold colored, or a combo of the two.  My favorite feature of these watches is their water resistance.  Most of these watches have a screw down crown, as a Rolex does, along with a screw off back.  They are super durable and are worn by land-scapers, construction workers, bankers, lawyers, builders etc……   There’s one more thing that I almost forgot, we give you a three year warranty on the watch and FREE BATTERIES FOREVER!!!!!!!!!   So come in and get a little piece of Apex and while your at it pick one up for yourself, we carry ladies styles also.
