History: Sapphire is the traditional birthstone for September. When most people think of Sapphires, they think blue, but Sapphires come in a rainbow color spectrum except for red which is known as the Ruby. These fancy colored sapphires are beautiful when paired together. Because of Sapphire's color and durability, it is extremely desirable in finished jewelry. Most Sapphires are treated to intensify their color.
